BUILDING FOR TOMORRROW
I experienced my 240 hours of OJT at DATEM's Winford Hotel Project. I had the opportunity to be with different departments in the project - Timekeeping, Warehouse, Safety, TSG, Commercial and Planning, and Operations. I also got to visit the project's staging area where the rebars to be used are cut and formed.
In my time with the non-technical departments, I have seen the hiring of workers, how items and equipments are being recorded and how important safety is and strictly observed in the construction site. During my time in the TSG, I had the chance to see and understand the project's plan and cutting lists and even inspect the beams, slabs and columns if its designs are the same with the ones in the plan in the Operations department. I also got the chance to observe the testing of concrete, pouring of concrete, laying out of formworks, scaffoldings, and rebars.
I've learned a lot during my OJT thanks to the Engineers, Foremen and even the workers who are very hospitable and helpful. You will see that there are a lot of things that you can learn in the field that you won't learn in classrooms.
